MTN Supports African Entrepreneurs Through Cloud Accelerator Program

MTN Supports African Entrepreneurs Through Cloud Accelerator Program. The company recently announced the launch of its MTN Cloud Accelerator, a 12-week hybrid program aimed at helping African startups scale swiftly by harnessing MTN’s infrastructure, platforms, and network reach.
The program was open to startups that already had minimum viable products (MVPs) or live offerings, especially those tackling core challenges across sectors like Fintech & Payments, HealthTech, EdTech, AgriTech, AI & Data Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Digital ID, as well as Retail & E-commerce. Particular emphasis was placed on ventures serving rural or underserved communities.
Each selected startup was awarded ₦5 million, plus a suite of support services: go-to-market (GTM) and sales assistance from MTN teams, access to MTN Cloud, MoMo, and Chenosis APIs, cloud credits, technical advisory, and one-on-one mentorship from industry experts. That blend of funding and ecosystem integration was intended to give participating startups a head start in deployment, customer acquisition, and scaling.
The initiative reflects MTN’s growing strategy to act not merely as a telco but as a technology enabler, using its core assets to nurture the next generation of digital solutions across Africa. Indeed, the Accelerator aligns with similar efforts globally, where telecoms use credits, platform access, and developer onboarding to build ecosystems around their core services.
