The Oguaa Fetu Festival, celebrated annually on the first Saturday of September, commemorates the end of a historic plague in Cape Coast and continues to draw large crowds through its mix of cultural rituals, performances, and tourism. This year’s grand durbar is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2025.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included MTN executives, the Board Chairman of the National Communications Authority, Mr. Kwaku Sakyi Addo, Director of ICT for the Ghana Police Service, ACP Vance Gariba, Deputy Director General of CID, ACP George Nana Tweneboah, and the Managing Director of Huawei, Tommy Zhou. The festival has also attracted international attention, with the Olu of Warri Kingdom in Nigeria, Ogiame Atuwatse III, joining the celebrations—highlighting its growing regional significance.
To ensure a seamless customer experience, MTN will set up service points across Cape Coast during the festivities, providing on-site support, products, and services. The company reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction while supporting Ghana’s cultural heritage.
Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of Oguaa, received the donation on behalf of the Traditional Council and expressed appreciation for MTN’s continued support. He also encouraged the company to maintain efforts toward improving service quality for its customers.
The growing use of digital tools during traditional festivals reflects how technology is reshaping community experiences. MTN’s initiative recognizes this shift, promoting both cultural preservation and digital engagement. The company’s contribution demonstrates how corporate participation in cultural events supports local economies through tourism and heritage promotion.
